When Cameroon’s local league one and two football championships will resume is not known by anyone.

Over a month after president Paul Biya instructed the prime minister’s office to mediate peace between football management bodies in the country for the championships to resume, nothing worth uniting for peace and the start of the championships has been realized.

Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) headed by Saidou Mbombo Njoya and Cameroon Football Professional League (LFPC) headed by General Pierre Semengue has been in a tussle of the leadership of which structure has the legitimate and legal right to organize local football championship.

In the midst of this, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Secretary-General at the Presidency of the Republic addressed a letter to the Secretary-General at the prime minister’s office on Wednesday, November 18th, 2020. He instructed a mediation for peace to ensure the resolution of the tension and “…avoid sanctions ” from the world football governing body-FIFA.

In the letter, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh demanded the submission of recommendations on how to solve the problem by Friday, November 20th, 2020. Recommendations some football officials say were rightly submitted at the presidency as SG Ngoh Ngoh instructed. Since then, the presidency has remained silent on the issue.

As the deadlock persists, local football players of league one and two championships in Cameroon remain stranded. Many say they are frustrated living for over nine months without the championship.

At the moment, football officials in Cameroon are focusing on the organization of the African Football Championship (CHAN) due to start on the 16th of January 2021.
