The Ntarinkong landlord who has been taking refuge in Yaounde ever since he returned home from his medical leave in the US says he will not stand for re-election when the party meets to elect a new bureau to pilot part affairs in some few weeks
Fru Ndi who founded the party in the early 90s is seen as one of the pillars of Cameroon’s multiparty politics
He says he believes it’s time the young generation should lead the Party
But His critics accuse him of taking the party from grass to glory and back to grass during his tumultuous reign where he spent his entire political life complaining about the government and stolen 1992 elections
In 2018, Ni John Fru Ndi had said he leaves the future of the party in the hands of young dynamics people with new ideas.
In the last 31 years, SDF national president, Ni Fru Ndi has run for presidential elections 1992, 2004, and 2011.
His party now ranks 4th in the 2019 Presidential elections and boast of an embarrassing number of lawmakers with 1 council to its name in the entire nation
