A certain Paul Sinju, a resident of Tiko, South West region of Cameroon is currently on the run.
Security forces launched a search for him after he assaulted a lawyer in her office. Reports say his action came after the lawyer, Egbe Evelyn working with the Nnoko Ngaaje Chamber defended Mr Sinju’s siblings against him in a court case.
“The case was about her father’s property… he wanted to control the property. He wanted that all the property should be controlled by him without any objections from his siblings” a source tells Mimi Mefo Info.
Following the assault captured in video, the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA addressed a complaint to the State Counsel for Tiko, expressing their dismay.
The video, FIDA Country Vice/National President, Gladys Mbuya said, “… is first hand and live evidence of violence being perpetrated against a woman.”
“We followed up the said video by placing a call to the victim who confirmed the dastardly behavior of the above mentioned suspect. We by this complaint entreat you to use your office and cause investigations to be hope. So as to bring the culprit to justice” FIDA urged the State Counsel for Tiko.
Nnoko Ngaaje Chambers where the assault tool place has also addressed a complaint to the Tiko State Counsel, pressing for action to be taken.
The suspect, the chambers states, “… Started assaulting our client [Eyong Evelyne], grabbed her neck and used a broom to hit her several times.”
It adds that “… the suspect also destroyed two office chairs and a table and many other vital documents belonging to some clients, ransacked the office and also carted away with the sum of 1,000,000 FCFA … Belonging to a client.”
“… Our client sustained several injuries on her body and was rushed to the General Hospital in Tiko … Sir, we will be grateful if you can use your good office to bring the suspect to book” the counsel for the assaulted lady requests.
At press time, the assailant remains at large, after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest.
