Earlier this year, speculations that he was planning to do so already sparked massive protests against the constitution across the country
Report has it that, after Condé pushed through a constitutional reform in March that critics argued was designed to allow him to run for office again in October18, 2020 elections
Statement from the rulling rally of the Guinean people, " president Alpha Condé will indeed be our candidate in the presidential election".
Also , the party had formally norminated him to run again back in August, but Condé had made no formal response
The massive protests against the constitutional amendment saw dozens being killed. Condé had come to the end of his mandate.
