French president Emmanuel Macron declared on Wednesday a nationwide lockdown to combat the virus that will come effect this Friday saying the new measures are indispensable.
Prime Minister Jean Castex In an address to the nation, he said the country needs new measures to combat coronavirus and that it is circulating more quickly than they had forecasted. The country is presently reporting more than 350 new cases per 100, 000people each week and almost 18 percent of its tests results are positive.
French president Macron says about 400,000 people will lose their lives if immediate action is not taken and lockdown will be eased when the number of new cases falls to 5000 per day. The second lockdown of France comes just after Germany introduced new measures to battle against the pandemic.
