Kuwait's Emir passed on yesterday, Tuesday September 29, 2020 in a hospital in the United States at the age of 91.
The minister in charge of royal affairs in a television broadcast recounts remorsefully ''With great sadness and tears, we mourn the death of Sheikh Sabah, Emir of the state of Kuwait''.
Born in 1929, Sabah is regarded as the founder of mordern Kuwait's foreing policy and has served as a foreign minister for over 40 years, 1963-2003 till when he becamme prime minister.
A senior resident scholar at the Arab Gulf state institute in Washington who studies Kuwait, Kristin Diwan recounts the Emir of Kuwait represents the older generation of Gulf leaders who preciously valued discretion and the importance of personal relationships amongst fellow monarchs.
The state television announced his death after Quranic prayers with the royal court minister reading a brief statement about Emir Sabah, his hands shaking as he read.
Meanwhile the people of Kuwait, the Arab and the Islamic Nations mourn his death and in deep sorrow right now.
