Society pushed me to my failed marriage – Funke Akindele reveals

Funke Akindele, actress and movie producer has revealed why her first marriage with one Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof failed.

Funke, also known as Jennifa who is now happily married with JJC Skillz, a former member of the JJC Squad in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo said that her previous marriage failed due to the pressures from the society.

She therefore advises ladies to calm down and not to rush into marriage so that they will not repeat what she went through.

“I have never addressed this issue but I will do now to encourage ladies that are pressured to get married. Please calm down and take your time because if you rush in, you rush out…that is the lesson learnt….I just wanted to get married then, have children because I was being pressurized by society, here and there….and then it didn’t work out and ended in a bad way….I was filming when the news broke on social media, I wanted to die, i lost some good deals and all but i didn’t let it break me….”

Speaking about her success story, the mother of twin boys and producer of the popular sitcom, Jennifa’s Diary said, “I channeled my energy into work, made money and i saved a lot, i will wake up early to work….there will always be bad times but you will survive, don’t let it weigh you down because it will pass and because you serve a living God…there are times anger and jealousy will come, but don’t let it eat you up, as a young lady don’t be pressured into marriage, marry cos you love him and want to be with him not cos the society and everyone is pressuring you to, ignore the naysayers…do what makes you happy…”

When asked about her recently acquired vehicle and why she publicized it on social media, Funke Akindele said “The last time we bought a new car was seven or eight years ago, it is not as if we couldn’t afford it but we were working hard and wanted to keep things running well first, keeping the company going, pay salaries…so it was to encourage people to let them know that you don’t have to do things the way others are doing but to become better at what you do…”

On May 26, 2012, Funke Akindele married Adeola Kehinde Oloyede. The couple divorced in July 2013, citing irreconcilable differences. Funke Akindele married Nigerian rapper JJC Skillz in London in May 2016 and gave birth to twin boys in December 2018.
